Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today issued the following statement the House of Representatives passed H.Con.Res.107, a resolution condemning Hamas for using Palestinian civilians as human shields, calling on the international community to condemn Hamas for breaching international humanitarian law by using human shields, and supporting Israel’s right to defend its territory and citizens:

“I am deeply disturbed by reports that Hamas is using civilian men, women, and children as human shields in the ongoing Gaza conflict while also storing weapons in homes or civilian institutions.  In passing this resolution, we are not only condemning Hamas, but we are also standing up for innocent Palestinian people being used as shields and for Israel, one of our strongest allies.  We must continue to make certain that Israel has the ability to fight terrorism, protect its sovereignty, and be sure the world is aware of our enduring support.”
