Griffith Hosts 2015 Service Academy Day

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) on Saturday, April 18, 2015 hosted his 2015 Service Academy Day in Wytheville, Virginia.  Students from area public and private high schools as well as home school students were in attendance in order to learn more about the U.S. Service Academies.

Attending on behalf of the Service Academies this year were representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, and the U.S. Naval Academy, as well as the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets.  Students were also able to collect information from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in addition to the Virginia Military Institute.  As in previous years, Service Academy Day included several presentations as well as time for students to ask questions regarding the service academies or Congressman Griffith’s congressional nomination process.

Griffith said, “Each year, remarkable students from the Ninth District and the United States apply for opportunities at our nation’s service academies.  It is a competitive and rigorous process, and I commend each student considering serving our nation.  Those with questions are encouraged to contact my Abingdon office at (276) 525-1405.”
