Griffith Named Vice Chairman of Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations

Today, Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) was named Vice Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

“I am honored to be named Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations,” said Congressman Griffith. “In this position, I will be able to lead efforts to ensure that the laws falling under the full Committee’s jurisdiction are being faithfully executed and upheld. I look forward to working with Chairman Walden, Chairman Murphy, and my colleagues on the Subcommittee as we conduct rigorous oversight over the executive branch.”

“Morgan has been a tremendous ally on our Committee and a key voice on posing incisive and necessary questions to the administration about some of its decisions on Obamacare,” said Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR). “As Vice Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, I know he will be a vocal leader in getting the answers we need and helping lead the charge in Congress’ critical role of oversight.”

“I am thrilled to continue serving as Oversight & Investigations Chairman under Chairman Walden’s leadership and I’m delighted for the opportunity to work alongside another strong leader, Virginia’s Rep. Morgan Griffith, who will serve as Vice Chairman,” said Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chairman Tim Murphy (R-PA).

The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations is responsible for investigating issues that fall under the full Committee’s jurisdiction. In the 114th Congress, the Subcommittee led investigations into Volkswagen emissions cheating, EpiPen costs, and Obamacare’s risk corridor program, among other issues.
