Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor certified that employees of Bristol Compressors are eligible to benefits through trade adjustment assistance:

“The closure of Bristol Compressors disrupted the lives and financial situations of the company’s employees, their families, and the Bristol area. While the job losses still hurt, trade adjustment assistance through the Federal Government can alleviate some of the impact. I encourage employees to apply, and my office stands ready to assist employees in the application process.

“Individual employees will have to check with the Department of Labor to determine the benefits for which they are eligible. Employees can check the Department of Labor website at https://www.doleta.gov/tradeact/.”
