Griffith Applauds USDA Award of $740,000 for Public Service Vehicles in Ninth District Communities

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development today announced $740,000 in loans and grants to communities in Virginia’s Ninth Congressional District for public service vehicles. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Purchasing and equipping modern vehicles for public services can place a strain on budgets in rural communities. Today’s awards of $740,000 to the City of Norton and the Town of Clintwood from USDA Rural Development will assist in critical fire and sanitation services, services upon which rural residents rely.”

Recipients include:

Town of Clintwood, which will receive a $90,000 loan and $50,000 grant to purchase a sanitation vehicle;

City of Norton, which will receive a $600,000 loan to purchase a fire truck.
