GRIFFITH STATEMENT ON ATTACK ON CONGRESSWOMAN GABRIELLE GIFFORDS

While I have not had the chance to get to know Congresswoman Giffords, I was deeply saddened by yesterday’s vicious attack on the Congresswoman and her staff in Arizona. The fact that she was fulfilling her congressional duties by serving her constituents makes yesterday's event all the more tragic. As Speaker Boehner said, ‘An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve.’

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement regarding the tragic shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ):

“While I have not had the chance to get to know Congresswoman Giffords, I was deeply saddened by yesterday’s vicious attack on the Congresswoman and her staff in Arizona.  The fact that she was fulfilling her congressional duties by serving her constituents makes yesterday's event all the more tragic. As Speaker Boehner said, ‘An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve.’

“My continued thoughts and prayers go out to Congresswoman Giffords, her staff, those who were injured and the families of those who lost loved ones in this tragic event.”
