GRIFFITH: UNCHECKED EPA IS REAL THREAT TO AIR QUALITY
Washington,
March 10, 2011
An unchecked EPA is the real threat to air quality.
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement today after passage of H.R. 910, the Energy Tax Prevention Act, in the Subcommittee on Energy and Power. This legislation would prohibit the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act. On Monday, the House Energy and Commerce Committee will consider the bill. “An unchecked EPA is the real threat to air quality. Burdensome EPA overreach and excessive regulatory costs are shipping more and more American manufacturing and industrial jobs to places like China. And in return, they ship us their dirty air. These countries either don’t have or don’t enforce reasonable regulations. “Whether or not you agree with man-made climate change, the issues at hand are unemployment and rising energy costs. With gas prices approaching $4 per gallon in the 9th District, the last thing we need is a bureaucratic regulatory scheme that would drive prices even higher. Regulating greenhouse gases will increase the cost of heating your home, buying groceries, and filling up your gas tank. Stopping the EPA’s regulatory assault will make American businesses more competitive and lead to job creation.” ### |
