GRIFFITH STATEMENT ON FEMA APPEAL
Washington,
May 17, 2011
I am pleased that Governor McDonnell has announced his intent to appeal FEMA’s decision.
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement today regarding Governor McDonnell's intent to appeal FEMA’s decision to deny federal disaster assistance to the Commonwealth: “I am pleased that Governor McDonnell has announced his intent to appeal FEMA’s decision. The storms that struck Southwest Virginia during the month of April destroyed and severely damaged hundreds of homes, including those that were uninsured or underinsured. The level of damage in the affected areas is devastating and should qualify for federal disaster assistance. We must get these folks the disaster relief they need and continue rebuilding. When the appeal reaches the President and FEMA, I strongly urge them to reverse their initial denial. My prayers continue to remain with those affected by these storms.” ### |
