GRIFFITH STATEMENT ON RFAAP JOBS

Washington, May 20, 2011
Understandably, there are some concerns about jobs due to the transition at the RFAAP.

Congressman Morgan Griffith issued the following statement regarding jobs at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant (RFAAP):

“Understandably, there are some concerns about jobs due to the transition at the RFAAP. In speaking with Chief for the Office of Public Affairs Joint Munitions Command Steve Abney, he relayed to me that whenever there is a transfer from one company to another, like this, typically there are some management changes, but the daily operations remain much the same.

“I have also been in direct contact with BAE Systems officials. They have assured me that while there may be some changes at the management level, there are no plans for a workforce reduction.

“It is important to note that we are currently in the protest period, where competing companies have the opportunity to submit an appeal of the decision. I will continue to monitor this situation closely.”
