Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement in honor of Flag Day:

“On Flag Day we remember the freedom and sacrifice represented by our flag. From the birth of the flag to today, it has symbolized the pride of our nation and great hope for the future. Our men and women in uniform have fought to protect this nation with the American flag at their side. It is fitting that today, on Flag Day and the 236^th birthday of the United States Army, the House passed a veterans benefit bill to care for those who have sacrificed for the Stars and Stripes. As George M. Cohan wrote: ‘You're a grand old flag, you're a high flying flag, and forever in peace may you wave. You're the emblem of the land I love. The home of the free and the brave.’”
