GRIFFITH WELCOMES 9th DISTRICT CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION WINNER TO WASHINGTON

Washington, June 22, 2011
It is an honor to welcome Jessalyn and her family to Washington.

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement today after welcoming Jessalyn Mullins of Norton, winner of the 9th District’s Congressional Art Competition, to the U.S. Capitol. Jessalyn, a rising junior at J.I. Burton High School, is visiting Washington to attend the official unveiling of the exhibit and a ceremony recognizing the winning students:

“It is an honor to welcome Jessalyn and her family to Washington. As visitors, staff, and Members of Congress walk through the Cannon Tunnel, her drawing, ‘Miner of the Ages,’ will represent the 9th District and serve as a visual reminder of the importance of coal in Southwest Virginia. Once again, congratulations to Jessalyn.”
