Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement today after welcoming Jessalyn Mullins of Norton, winner of the 9^th District’s Congressional Art Competition, to the U.S. Capitol. Jessalyn, a rising junior at J.I. Burton High School, is visiting Washington to attend the official unveiling of the exhibit and a ceremony recognizing the winning students:

“It is an honor to welcome Jessalyn and her family to Washington. As visitors, staff, and Members of Congress walk through the Cannon Tunnel, her drawing, ‘Miner of the Ages,’ will represent the 9^th District and serve as a visual reminder of the importance of coal in Southwest Virginia. Once again, congratulations to Jessalyn.”
