GRIFFITH: 9/11 IS A DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
Washington,
September 11, 2011
Today, we remember and honor the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001.
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement today marking the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. “Today, we remember and honor the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001. Like many of you, I distinctly remember where I was when the first plane hit. I was in my office, and my assistant, who was watching the television, called me into her office. We wondered how a plane could have been so off course as to hit a building. When we saw the second plane approach, we knew the United States of America was under attack and our country would never be the same. “From New York to the Pentagon to a field in Pennsylvania, the events of this day 10 years ago are ingrained in the mind of every American. My prayers are with the families of those who lost loved ones in the attacks and whose lives were forever changed. They will not be forgotten, love makes memory eternal. “We also pay tribute to the many firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency responders, and bystanders who were willing to put their lives at risk to help others. Throughout the 9th District, brave men and women continue to work every day to keep our communities safe. I am thankful for their selfless service. As the battle against terrorism continues, we should also remember our troops who are fighting to protect our freedom. As you take a moment to reflect today, I encourage you to reflect on those lost on 9/11 as well as all of those who serve our nation both at home and abroad. May God bless our service members and may He continue to bless the United States of America.” ###
