HOUSE REPEALS CLASS ACT

In my opinion, Obama Care will negatively impact our budget and the quality of health care in America. The CLASS program is another concrete example of why Obama Care is not a viable solution to our nation’s health care needs. Even the Obama Administration has admitted that the CLASS program is unworkable and abandoned its implementation. However, the financially unsustainable program remains on the books.

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement today after House passage of H.R. 1173, the Fiscal Responsibility and Retirement Security Act.  This legislation repeals the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports Act (CLASS), a new long-term care insurance program found in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), also known as Obama Care:

“In my opinion, Obama Care will negatively impact our budget and the quality of health care in America. The CLASS program is another concrete example of why Obama Care is not a viable solution to our nation’s health care needs. Even the Obama Administration has admitted that the CLASS program is unworkable and abandoned its implementation. However, the financially unsustainable program remains on the books.

“H.R. 1173 repeals a program that will never work.  Ending the CLASS program is just another part of the effort to defund and repeal Obama Care altogether. The health care system in our country does need commonsense reforms and long-term solutions to improve health care access and costs. However, Obama Care is not the answer.”
