Wednesday, October 2, 2013 – Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Open Our National Parks and Museums Act, which ensures funding for National Park Service operations, and the Research for Lifesaving Cures Act, which ensures funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH): “This process would be faster if the Senate were to join us at the negotiating table to sort out our differences. However, if the Senate won’t negotiate with us, we ought to move forward on areas where we are in agreement. While continuing to urge the Senate to appoint negotiators, I also urge them to work with us in advancing proposals like those passing the House today, which would open national parks, monuments, and museums and provide funding for critical medical research including vital cancer research, among other things.” ### |
