Griffith Supports Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today voted in favor of H.R. 3370, the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act, which passed the House of Representatives in a vote of 306-91:

“The Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act is not a perfect bill.  I am of the belief that it could have gone further.  But I have been legislating for some time now, and I don’t believe that I have ever met a ‘perfect’ bill.  That said, this bill will provide some relief to homeowners, slowing down the rate of increase on flood insurance policies.  It will exclude detached structures from the mandatory purchase requirement, let homeowners choose a higher deductible, create a better process to appeal flood insurance map decisions, and it will also appoint a national advocate to help homeowners.  It may not be perfect, but the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act is a good-faith effort to get something positive done.”
