Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) released the following statement today after learning that coal producer Alpha Natural Resources will be closing its Cherokee Mine:

 “I am saddened by today’s news that yet another mine in Virginia’s Ninth Congressional District is slated for closure. Hardworking Americans, their families, and our communities need the jobs that these mines provide.  For those individuals impacted, please contact my Abingdon or Christiansburg office for possible assistance and to receive a resource packet.”
