Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today issued the following statement on the passing of Madison Marye, a longtime state senator from Montgomery County who passed away yesterday, February 23, at the age of 90:

“I am saddened by news of the passing of Madison Marye, who for decades was a feisty legislator and a fierce advocate for his rural constituency.  He will long be recognized in his hometown of Shawsville and the greater New River Valley for his service in the General Assembly as well as his service to our nation as a member of the Army.  Though we disagreed from time to time, Madison was always a gentleman, and I fondly remember him as a person I liked very much.  Madison was a good man, and he will be missed.”
