Griffith Announces Winner of Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today released the following statement announcing the Ninth District winner of the 2018 Congressional Art Competition:

“Congratulations to Jade Williams, a senior at Carroll County High School. Her artwork, ‘Papaw’s Porch,’ took first place in this year’s competition and will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Her teacher is Freda Cole. Congratulations are also in order for Alice Xu of Blacksburg High School, who took second place with ‘Pride of the Blue Ridge,’ and Shalee Choate of Grayson County High School, who took third place with ‘It is in us.’ These works will hang in my Christiansburg and Abingdon offices.

“Participants in this year’s competition came from numerous different high schools in the Ninth District. Their works displayed notable quality and creativity. I am proud of these students and I thank them for entering the 2018 Congressional Art Competition.”
