Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement after the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), a federally-funded program, approved a $500,000 grant to the Health Wagon for construction of a health clinic in Clintwood: “Today’s announcement means that more health care services will be available in Dickenson County. ARC’s grant supports the good work of the Health Wagon in meeting the need for vital medical, dental, and vision care services among underserved populations. This is a contribution to the health and well-being of coalfields residents.” Plans for the clinic include spaces for medical, dental, and vision care, as well as spaces for x-ray, telehealth, pharmacy, and laboratory uses. The clinic will be built on land donated by the Dickenson County Industrial Development Authority. ARC’s $500,000 grant is in addition to $730,600 for the project provided by local sources. Griffith has consistently supported funding for the Appalachian Regional Commission. ### |
