Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today issued the following statement after retaining his places on the Subcommittees on Energy, Health, and Oversight and Investigations of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, notwithstanding the reduction by over 30% of Republican membership of these Subcommittees: “I am pleased to have been reappointed to these Subcommittees. The Energy and Commerce Committee has jurisdiction over some of the most important issues facing the Ninth District. From addressing the opioid crisis to improving the quality and affordability of health care to promoting American energy resources, the work done by this committee frequently touches the everyday lives of families. I will use my position on Energy and Commerce for the same purpose as I have in past Congresses: to advocate the priorities of Southwest and Southside Virginia and the Alleghany Highlands.” Congressman Greg Walden (R-OR), Republican Leader of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said: “Morgan Griffith has proven to be one of the most diligent, hard-working members of the Energy and Commerce Committee, and with his reappointment, he will continue to be an asset to our committee and for his Virginia constituents.” ### |
