Griffith Announces Winner of Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today released the following statement announcing the Ninth District winner of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition:

“Congratulations to Kathryn Boyd of 3J4 Academy in Honaker. Her artwork, ‘Grandpaw’s Barn,’ took first place in this year’s competition and will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Congratulations are also in order for Victoria Russell of Rural Retreat High School, who took second place with ‘Mountain Peaches,’ and Sarah Steffey of Castlewood High School, who took third place with ‘Enduring Love.’ These works will hang in my Christiansburg and Abingdon offices.

“Participants in this year’s competition came from numerous different high schools in the Ninth District. Their works displayed notable quality and creativity. I am proud of these students and I thank them for entering the 2019 Congressional Art Competition.”
