Griffith Statement on Funding to Address Border Crisis

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Senate bill to provide funding to address the crisis at the southern border:

“Speaker Pelosi told the American people in January that President Trump was ‘manufacturing a crisis.’ There was indeed a crisis at the southern border then, and it has only grown worse. Instead of working with the Trump Administration and House Republicans to pass needed funding for border security and humanitarian aid, House Democrats dragged their feet.

“In addition to the security crisis, 58 days ago the Trump Administration asked for needed funding just to handle the humanitarian crisis on the border and the many children who have been brought here.

“It is unacceptable that the House only voted today on a realistic bill with funding to address the humanitarian crisis on the southern border, and even this was done reluctantly by Speaker Pelosi.

“Democrats need to get serious about working to secure the border and end this complex and dire situation.”
