Griffith Holds Video Conference Call With Virginia Bankers Association, Ninth District Bankers

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today held a video conference call with the Virginia Bankers Association featuring bankers from the Ninth Congressional District. The call focused on the response to the coronavirus outbreak and included a question and answer session.

“Banks have been on the front lines in responding to the economic devastation wrought by the coronavirus outbreak. Through their participation in the Paycheck Protection Program, they have helped employees stay on the payroll and businesses keep afloat. I appreciated the chance to talk to Ninth District bankers and hear their questions and concerns,” said Griffith.

“Virginia banks of all sizes have been working around-the-clock to provide loans through the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), processing 40,371 applications totaling more than $8.7 billion as of April 16,” said Bruce Whitehurst, president and CEO of the Virginia Bankers Association. “Virginia banks are committed to helping small businesses at this most critical time. We appreciate Congressman Griffith’s support as we urge Congress to protect more American families and their jobs and businesses by allocating additional funding to the PPP.”
