Virginia’s Ninth District Receives $658,300 in Federal Support for Public Services

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced $658,300 for public services in Virginia’s Ninth Congressional District through the Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grant Program. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Rural areas such as ours often face challenges in funding public services. USDA has announced $658,300 in loans and grants for communities across the Ninth District to help pay for important equipment and infrastructure. These investments support the safety and quality of life of our citizens.”

The following projects and jurisdictions were funded:

The Town of Haysi received a $12,500 loan and $37,300 grant for a replacement law enforcement vehicle.

The Town of Pennington Gap received a $96,000 loan and $50,000 grant for a replacement sanitation truck.

The City of Norton received a $42,000 loan and $50,000 grant for two replacement law enforcement vehicles.

Kids Central, Incorporated received a $68,000 loan and $50,000 grant for two replacement buses for the Head Start program.

The Town of Floyd received a $110,500 loan and $50,000 grant for a replacement sanitation vehicle.

The City of Galax received a $42,000 loan and $50,000 grant to upgrade radios and communication equipment for the fire department.
