The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) today awarded $1,494,000 to the New River/Mount Rogers Workforce Development Area Consortium Board for the Pathways to a Strong and Healthy Region project addressing substance abuse in the workforce. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement: “Substance abuse can throw a person’s life off track, including affecting his or her ability to hold a job. It can also present a problem for employers looking to hire. The Pathways to a Strong and Healthy Region project will coordinate efforts in the health care and economic development sectors to welcome those recovering from substance use disorders back into the workforce. ARC’s award of $1,494,000 will make a tremendous impact on this worthy and important project. ### |
