Griffith Applauds USDA Rural Development Award of $18,730,000 to the Washington County Service Authority for Water Infrastructure

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development today awarded a loan of $18,730,000 to the Washington County Service Authority for improvements to water storage and distribution systems. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Water infrastructure is important to the health, quality of life, and economic potential of all communities. This USDA Rural Development loan of $18,730,000 will support major upgrades to Washington County water systems, correcting health hazards such as lead and rust. This loan will also improve water pressure and construct 145 fire hydrants. This is a significant investment in Washington County’s infrastructure.”

Further Information
USDA Rural Development funding will support:

- installation of approximately 304,000 linear feet of water line;

- 145 fire hydrants;

- 63 water meter relocations;

- demolition of two water storage tanks; and

- construction of a 1.5 million-gallon tank with all related site work, including fencing.
