USDA Rural Development Announces $230,000 for Patrol Vehicles in Southwest Virginia

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development today announced $230,000 in federal funding for patrol vehicles in Dickenson County, the Town of Gate City, and the City of Norton. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Public safety is among the most important responsibilities of local governments, but purchasing equipment can strain the budgets in rural communities. Today’s award of $230,000 in funding by USDA Rural Development for patrol vehicles will help law enforcement perform their duties.”

The awards are:

  • A grant of $50,000 to Dickenson County for two patrol vehicles;
  • A grant of $26,200 and loan of $48,800 to the Town of Gate City for two patrol vehicles; and
  • A grant of $50,000 and loan of $55,000 to the City of Norton for two patrol vehicles.
