Appalachian Regional Commission Awards $51,592 for Community Enhancement Project in Critz

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) today announced a $51,592 grant to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University for Phase One of the Critz, Virginia Community Enhancement Project. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement: “I am pleased that this grant of $51,592 will serve as seed money for the planning and development of the proposed community center in Critz, Virginia. The vision for the community center is to provide a place for residents of the area to gather and a place where educational and professional development programs can be offered.” Further Information These funds will support the development of a civic-engaged program and land study for a community center on the historic Reynolds Homestead property. The anticipated community center will focus on bridging the race divide in the community by offering educational and professional development programs, entrepreneurship trainings, after-school programs, cultural heritage activities, health and wellness programs, and other such programs acknowledged as a need by community members. ### |
