Griffith Announces more than $2.5 Million in ARC POWER Grants for Southwest Virginia Organizations

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded more than $2.5 million in Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization (POWER) grants for Southwest Virginia organizations. The award amounts, organizations, and purposes for the awards are:

  • $1,500,000 to Appalachian Community Capital for a capital access program across Central Appalachia
  • $1,000,000 to Virginia Coalfield Coalition for a broadband program in Buchanan and Tazewell Counties
  • $50,000 to the City of Pikeville for the Pikeville/Breaks Tourism Partnership project with Buchanan County
  • $49,875 to LENOWISCO for a feasibility study for an ag-tech tool for specialty grains
