USDA Rural Development Awards More Than $14 Million for Water Service in Scott County

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development awarded a grant of $10,270,000 and a loan of $3,783,000, a total of $14,053,000, to the Scott County Public Service Authority for public water service. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement: “Safe and reliable water infrastructure contributes to a community’s health and quality of life. USDA Rural Development’s award of more than $14 million for improvements to water distribution in Scott County will provide needed upgrades to the county’s water system and benefit the county’s citizens. Further Information According to USDA Rural Development, the $10,270,000 grant and $3,783,000 loan will provide public water for residents in the Central Scott area and correct deficiencies in the Nickelsville water system. Construction includes approximately nineteen miles of three/fourths-inch to eight-inch water lines; a pump station; a 100,000-gallon water storage tank; water meters; fire hydrants; and other related appurtenances ### |
