USDA Rural Development Awards More Than $7 Million for Water Service in Bland County

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development awarded a grant of $3,840,000 and a loan of $3,203,000, a total of $7,043,000, to the Bland County Service Authority for improvements to the water distribution system. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement: “Safe and reliable water infrastructure contributes to a community’s health and quality of life. USDA Rural Development’s award of more than $7 million for improvements to water distribution in Bland County will provide needed upgrades to the county’s water system and benefit the county’s citizens. Further Information According to USDA Rural Development, the $3,840,000 grant and $3,203,000 loan will improve the water distribution system and extend new service to approximately 100 homes. Construction includes the installation of 78,550 linear feet of eight-inch water line, one water storage tank, two pump stations, the replacement of 9,800 linear feet of eight-inch water line, and related appurtenances. ### |
