The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has awarded St. Mary’s Health Wagon, commonly known as the Health Wagon, $40,800 for telehealth equipment. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement: “I have long advocated for telehealth services as a way to reach underserved and isolated communities. The pandemic has proven the value of these services, and I support their continued expansion. “The FCC’s award of $40,800 to the Health Wagon is great news. This organization has been a great asset to the coalfields, and the FCC’s award will advance its vital work.” Further Information Today’s grant will go to the purchase of telemedicine carts and connected devices to reduce foot traffic at physical sites. Funding for this grant came from the FCC’s COVID-19 Telehealth Program created by the CARES Act, which was enacted in March 2020 with Griffith’s support. ### |
