Griffith Announces Committee Assignments For 118th Congress

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) announced that he has received his committee assignments for the 118th Congress. Congressman Griffith will again serve on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he will chair the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations and serve on the Subcommittee on Health and Subcommittee on Energy. Congressman Griffith has also been newly appointed to the Committee on House Administration. He issued the following statement: “I am honored to continue to serve on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over many important issues affecting Southwest Virginians. As Congress works to promote domestic energy production and create jobs, improve healthcare for Americans, advance electronic and other ways of communication, the Energy and Commerce Committee will be at the center of the action.” “I am excited to serve in my new role as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. As Chairman, I will lead efforts to conduct crucial oversight of federal agencies and ensure that Congressional intent within the full Committee’s jurisdiction is followed. This Subcommittee places its witnesses under oath and when necessary, exercises its subpoena power.” “As a member of the Subcommittee on Health, I will work to address issues facing rural health care, promote telehealth, combat the opioid and mental health crisis plaguing our country, and work towards solutions to lower overall health care costs, while increasing access to care.” “As a member of the Subcommittee on Energy, I will promote an all-of-the-above energy policy while focusing on energy production in the region, such as coal and natural gas. A strong national all-of-the-above energy policy is essential to not only a thriving economy, but also our national security.” “I am pleased to also be chosen to serve on the Committee on House Administration for the 118th Congress, which focuses on overseeing the daily operations of the House of Representatives, Capitol security, including lapses in security on Jan. 6, 2021, while also providing oversight for our federal elections.” BACKGROUND: The Committee on House Administration has jurisdiction over the U.S. House of Representatives operations, providing oversight to House procedures and priorities, Capitol Security, and federal elections. ### |
