ARC Awards $500,000 to YWCA of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded $500,000 to the YWCA of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, located in Bristol, Virginia, for The Power House: A Consolidation of Community Services for Success. This investment by ARC will lead to about 140 workers/trainees receiving substance use disorder recovery-to-workforce support services; 30 businesses will also be served by the project. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Substance abuse remains a real problem throughout the United States, also affecting many in our region. ARC’s INSPIRE grant will pay for a variety of family resiliency and recovery-to-work support services for those suffering from a substance use disorder.”

ARC’s INSPIRE initiative is a program focused on assisting individuals with substance use disorder back into the workforce after treatment and recovery.
