The U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has awarded $18,448 to Henry County for overtime pay for their police officers working major crime scenes. This funding, through BJA’s fiscal year 2023 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, will also be used for extra patrols in high crime areas. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“This funding by the Bureau of Justice Assistance will help increase the presence of law enforcement in high crime areas of Henry County and pay officers for their overtime work, ensuring they can continue to serve the citizens of Henry County to the best of their ability.”
