Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) released the following statement: “I have always been a staunch supporter of our great ally Israel and firmly believe in their right to defend themselves. “Congresswoman Tlaib’s history of antisemitic statements is deeply troubling and her comments regarding the October 7th terrorist attacks are completely abhorrent. I vigorously disagree with them. “While it is true that Congresswoman Tlaib spoke to a group of protesters on October 18th and later that day those protesters entered a House office building to stage a demonstration, they did so without Tlaib present. Should a speaker be responsible for the actions of a group when that speaker is not there and there is no evidence of a conspiracy to have the group enter and disrupt congressional operations? “To pass a censure resolution claiming the people who Congresswoman Tlaib spoke to then had an “insurrection” and, therefore is accordingly responsible, could lead to that censure resolution being Exhibit 1 in court cases trying to keep candidates, like Trump, off of the ballot.” ### |
