Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) released the following statement regarding the passing of former Congressman and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Tom Bliley:

“I am saddened to learn of the passing of former Virginia Congressman Tom Bliley. Tom was a pioneer in Virginia politics, becoming the first Republican to win in the 3rd District in the 20^th Century. He served with distinction during his 20 years in Congress, spending six impactful years as the Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee.

“I will forever be grateful for his encouragement when I sought to join the Energy and Commerce Committee when I was first elected to Congress. My sincerest condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.”
