The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Community Facilities Program has awarded a grant of $25,000 to the Lee County Public Service Authority. The grant money will be used for the purchase of crash cushions, roadway devices made of crushable material that absorb energy from colliding vehicles, to help minimize threats to life. Congressman Morgan Griffith submitted the following statement: “This grant for $25,000 is an important contribution to roadway safety measures in Lee County. Motorists and roadway workers in this mountainous area will be safeguarded as these cushions limit damage from car crashes.”
