The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD) has awarded Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) totaling more than $2,000,000 to Russell County, the Town of Abingdon and the Town of Glade Spring. These federally-funded grants, administered by VDHCD, will allocate $514,500 to Russell County for the Tiller Trailer Park Waterline Extension Project, $945,259 to the Town of Abingdon for the Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center Project, and $702,584 to the Town of Glade Spring for the Glade Spring Housing Rehab Project. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“These federally-funded investments in our communities allocate money to water and utility infrastructure improvements in Russell County. The Town of Abingdon benefits from equipped access to dental care and the Town of Glade Spring rehabilitates affordable housing. These investments are a reminder that continued investment in our rural communities is necessary.”
