The Barter Foundation has received a $700,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) for a renovation project at the Smith Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia. The project includes new audience seating, stabilization of existing interior spaces, and fire system upgrades. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“This money greatly benefits the Barter’s Smith Theatre complex. The Barter is a fabulous cultural asset for our region and draws tens of thousands of people into Southwest Virginia.”
