The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded Virginia Tech a $300,000 grant for allergy, immunology and transplantation research related to Clostridioides difficile (C. difficile) infection. This bacterium causes inflammation of the colon, diarrhea, colitis, etc. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement: “C. difficile is a germ that affects the colon and can cause serious illness.” “This grant for $300,000 helps Virginia Tech explore treatments for a harmful metabolic disease.” ### |
