Griffith Announces $400,000 ARC Grant for Outdoor Recreation Project

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded The Nature Conservancy a $400,000 grant for outdoor recreation infrastructure upgrades. The funds, made available by ARC’s ARISE initiative, apply to the Cumberland-Pine Mountain Outdoor Recreation and Conservation Corridor project. The overall Cumberland Forest project covers 253,000 acres in Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Southwest Virginia is home to fantastic sites that drive tourism interest in outdoor activities. The Cumberland-Pine Mountain Outdoor Recreation and Conservation Corridor project is one of many positive projects run by The Nature Conservancy in Virginia’s Ninth District. Winding trails, rivers and mountains are some of the many features of this site.

“This ARC grant for $400,000 helps the region develop and restore access to these beautiful areas.”
