Griffith Announces $340,850 SERV Grant to Montgomery County Public Schools

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $340,850 grant to Montgomery County Public Schools. The grant is supported by the Department’s Office of Safe and Supportive Schools and the School Emergency Response to Violence (SERV) initiative, also known as Project SERV. Project SERV funds short-term education-related services for schools to help them recover from a violent or traumatic event in which the learning environment has been disrupted. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Students can be greatly affected by the passing of a classmate.

“This $340,850 grant helps Montgomery County Public Schools adjust to an incident last year where two students died.”
