U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) released the following statement on the passing of former Virginia First Lady Roxane Gilmore:

“I am saddened to learn of the death of former Virginia First Lady Roxane Gilmore. I served in the Virginia House of Delegates when she was first lady. My colleagues and I remember her being a gracious and welcoming host when we were invited to the Governor’s Mansion. Her influence on the preservation of the Mansion was a passionate endeavor of hers. I vividly recall her discussing drapery colors and wallpaper selection on one of my visits.

“I send my regrets to Governor Gilmore and his family, wishing them strength and comfort during this difficult time. Virginia has lost a charming lady.”
