Griffith Announces $700,000 ARC Grant to Dickenson County PSA

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded the Dickenson County Public Service Authority a $700,000 grant. The funding will support water line replacement and connect 45 households along Backbone Ridge Road. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

 

“Leaks and failures in water and sewer systems can create poor health and environmental conditions.

 

“This ARC grant for $700,000 helps Dickenson County Public Service Authority upgrade a faulty water and sewer system.”

 

BACKGROUND

 

The official name of the project is the Backbone Ridge Phase V/Gilbert Drive Water Line Replacement Project.

 

According to ARC, the existing water system was built in the 1970’s.

 

Once completed, the Dickenson County Public Service Authority will own, maintain and operate the system.
