The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded Sunset Holler, Inc. a $700,000 grant. The funding will support the Southern Gap Amphitheater Project. This project will create a 2,500 seat commercial-grade amphitheater. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“According to a feasibility study, a Southern Gap Amphitheater will create 8 full time jobs and attract 64,000 new visitors annually.

“This ARC grant for $700,000 helps Sunset Holler, Inc. boost regional tourism and support the local economy of deep Southwest Virginia.”

BACKGROUND

Sunset Holler, Inc. collaborates with the Buchanan County Industrial Development Authority to redevelop the Southern Gap area.

This project will include the installation of a mobile stage, seating, restrooms and administrative buildings, parking, landscaping and connection to local utilities.
