The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $902,931 to the Lee County School District. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:
“Head Start projects support early childhood development services to meet the educational and social needs of local communities.
“This HHS grant for $902,931 will help Lee County Public Schools provide Head Start services to families and children in Lee County.”
BACKGROUND
The Lee County Head Start program has been funded since 1965, and currently operates nine center-based classrooms and two home-based classes.
The awarding office of this grant is the HHS Office of the Administration for Children and Families.
