In response to a New York court decision finding Daniel Penny not guilty of negligent homicide in the death of Jordan Neely, U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

“Daniel Penny is an American who served his country admirably in the United States Marine Corps. In the military, he received several ribbons and awards common in peacetime activity, according to his military records, and achieved a promotion to sergeant.

“I am relieved by the decision reached today in New York, and I hope no further charges are pursued.”
