Griffith Announces $617,000 Grant to Support Tazewell County Fire Hall

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has awarded the Town of Tazewell, Virginia, a $617,000 grant. The funding will support the construction of a fire hall for the Eastern District of Tazewell County. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

 

“This USDA Rural Development grant for $617,000 helps Tazewell design and build a facility to better address and more quickly manage potential emergencies in the area.

 

BACKGROUND

 

The funding is made available through the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program, which directs funds to develop essential community facilities in rural areas.

 

Increased capacity for equipment through the fire hall will help first responders protect more than 8,000 residents from fires and natural disasters.
