Griffith Announces $96,727 Grant to Support Russell County Small Businesses

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has awarded the Russell County Industrial Development Authority, based in Lebanon, Virginia, a $96,727 grant. The funding will support an existing loan fund to create new jobs. U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:
“Small businesses and entrepreneurs benefit from policies that encourage local economic development.
“This USDA Rural Development grant for $96,727 helps the Russell County IDA develop an existing revolving loan fund to support business growth in Russell County.”
BACKGROUND
The funding is made available through the USDA Rural Development Rural Business Development Grants Program, which directs funds to promote economic development and job creation projects.
The Russell County Industrial Development Authority seeks to promote industry, develop economic trade, advance job opportunities and protect the economic welfare of Russell County citizens.
